Selling Points
Selling Points is a property discovery and marketing project that explores the words, features, brands, places and local advantages mentioned in property descriptions.
Traditional property portals are largely built around standard filters such as price, location, bedrooms and property type. Selling Points takes a different approach by looking inside the description itself — identifying the individual Points that estate agents use to explain what makes a property distinctive.
A Point might be nearby Waitrose, an AGA, a particular property developer, an independent school, a nearby employer, a well-known restaurant, a construction material, an architectural feature or something as simple as far-reaching views or development potential.
Each Point can then become a route into the property market, showing properties whose descriptions mention it and allowing searches to be refined by location, tenure and property portal.
Selling Points also has a marketing purpose. It demonstrates the value of detailed property descriptions and gives businesses, developers, architects, retailers, employers and other local organisations a new way to see where their names are being used to help market property.
The project is developing into a bridge between property search, property marketing and local business promotion — turning the language already contained within property advertisements into a new way of exploring the market.
